Sandy
Sandy always had a vision of creating a rescue for homeless animals. Farfel’s Farm was the fulfillment of her dream, opening its doors on West Pearl Street in downtown Boulder, Colorado in 2005. “The Pets Republic of Boulder” became the moniker for Farfel’s as it grew into a beloved Boulder institution known for its ethical pet products and transformative animal rescue work.
Driven by her vision for a kinder pet marketplace, Sandy, with the help of her partner Jeff, designed a boutique that embodied their values offering unique and humane products for both pets and their people. The store quickly became Boulder’s trusted home for supporting both animal and human rights while providing the community with unique and high-quality pet products.
A couple of years after opening Farfel’s Farm, Sandy’s dream of a dog rescue came to fruition. Farfel’s Farm & Rescue was born in 2007 and in the ensuing years has saved the lives of over 6,000 precious dogs.
Farfel’s Rescue grew into a foster-based organization dedicated to providing animals with a second chance at life. The rescue’s debut was ambitious, saving a mother dog and her six puppies from homelessness in Santorini, Greece. It proved to be a challenging yet wonderful international experience that taught Sandy the intricacies of global friendships and logistics. It wasn’t long before Farfel’s Rescue established trusted partnerships in the Southern U.S. as well as Tijuana and Isla Mujeres Mexico, continually growing its reach and impactful life-saving projects.
Sandy is currently working on a book of short stories chronicling the adventures of six Farfel’s rescue dogs, that celebrates their resilience and the joy they bring to their forever families. She hopes to inspire a community committed to compassion—one rescue story at a time. Sandy views her journey as a testament to unwavering compassion and advocacy for animals — values that lie at the core of the story of Farfel’s Farm & Rescue.
Owner
Jeff
With a passion for dogs and animals of all kinds since early childhood, Jeff’s vision for the future was a euthanasia-free world within the canine population.
Jeff, along with Sandy, opened Farfel’s Farm in 2005, building on a lifelong vision. Prior to Farfel’s inception, Jeff had a diverse career in photography, high-tech optical products, marketing and sales. Those experiences helped shape Farfel’s organizational, professional and ethical practices.
Farfel’s Farm quickly became known not only for its unique, curated selection of pet goods but also for its role as a community gathering place, “The Pets Republic of Boulder™”. Jeff guided Farfel’s in becoming an outspoken advocacy group for animal and human rights, environmental protection, and resistance against authoritarian rule. As a part of our dissent, Farfel’s manufactures parody dog chew toys and poop bags that satirize Trump. We donate a percentage of the proceeds to the National Resources Defense Council and The Nature Conservancy for sale of those products.
Through years of dedication and a lifetime of loving animals, Jeff has helped Farfel’s Farm & Rescue become a cornerstone of the Boulder community.

Our 4-Legged Support Team
The furry best friends of Farfel’s employees are more than just our pets – they’re the driving heartbeat of our rescue. Every day, they remind us why our work matters and what it means to show up with a lifesaving mission that requires softness, patience, and love.
Their soulful eyes remind us of what’s important and serve to keep us grounded when the stories are difficult and the days are long. Their quiet energy offers comfort after difficult calls as we refill our hearts with their wise energy.
Because of them, Farfel’s is not just a rescue—it is a place where compassion is practiced daily. Our own dogs have colorful stories and are our constant reminder that every rescue we save deserves the same safety, devotion, and lifelong love we give to our own dogs.
Those We'll Never Forget
There are those we’ve loved deeply and lost too soon. The lessons they’ve taught us are profound and a part of our consciousness as we move forward.
They taught us that love is measured in moments, not years. They let us know absolutely that even the smallest, quietest soul can leave the deepest mark. They’ve reminded us to celebrate simplest joys, to greet each day with an open heart, and to keep showing up for those who need us the most.
Because of their courage, we learned patience. Observing their gentleness, we learned kindness, and in their final goodbyes, we learned how vital it is to cherish every single day we’re given to be together.
While they’re no longer by our sides, the lessons and wisdom left behind are woven into the very fabric of Farfel’s.
These precious beings live on in every life we save, in every match we make, and in every decision to go the extra mile for dogs who need that extra chance.
